Novelty Press, also known as Premium Service Co., was a comic book publisher active during the 1940s. They introduced a variety of characters in different genres, from superheroes to humor and adventure stories. Wonder Boy was one of their superhero characters, appearing in the Blue Bolt Comics series.
Dick Cole, the Wonder Boy, was a popular character during the Golden Age and appeared in numerous issues of Blue Bolt Comics. He later got his own title, “”Dick Cole,”” which ran for over 10 years.
Dick Cole had always been different from other kids. Orphaned at a young age, he was taken in by Professor Blair, a brilliant but strict scientist who saw potential in the young boy. Although the Professor provided a home for Dick, he was more of a mentor than a loving guardian. They shared a mutual respect, but there was always a sense of emotional distance between them.
Under the Professor’s guidance, Dick’s mind was pushed to its limits. He was given a serum that accelerated his ability to process information, and he spent countless hours in the laboratory, learning everything the Professor had to teach him. Though he was grateful for the opportunities provided by the Professor, Dick couldn’t help but long for a more typical childhood filled with friends, laughter, and love.
After finishing military school, Dick was recruited by the CIA to be an undercover operative. His unique abilities made him the perfect candidate for dangerous missions that required quick thinking and quick action. But the more time he spent in the field, the more he felt the weight of his isolation. Even among his fellow agents, he struggled to form connections, as his intellect and abilities set him apart.
On one of his first assignments, Dick was caught in a fierce battle. He lost an eye in the fight, but the Professor was able to repair the injury with a neural implant that gave him even more incredible abilities. This further distanced him from others, making it difficult for him to connect on a deeper level with those around him.
Now, with his super intellect and the ability to acquire any talent he sees just by watching, Dick is one of the most valuable operatives in the CIA. He can register information at a speed faster than anyone on the planet, and he can even control various networks with his mind.
Despite his incredible talents, Dick is a solitary figure. He has spent his entire life being used as a guinea pig for the Professor’s experiments, and he has never known the warmth of a real family. Haunted by the memories of his past and the longing for human connection, Dick starts questioning his purpose and the life he’s been given. In an attempt to find meaning and form genuine connections, he embarks on a personal journey to understand his origins, his true self, and find a place where he truly belongs.
