Publication History
Texa was created by Harry Shorten and Irv Novick. She made her first appearance in Zip Comics #3, published in April 1940 by MLJ Comics.
She is depicted as a formidable crime boss who stands at an imposing height of approximately 8 feet and willingly participates in combat, often equipped with a ray gun. She possesses the ability to hypnotize people to do her bidding, and commands an army of hooded men and winged creatures.
Zip Comics was a publication by MLJ Magazines Inc., which later became known as Archie Comics. The series ran from February 1940 to Summer 1944, totaling 47 issues. Zip Comics was an anthology comic book featuring a variety of characters and genres, ranging from superheroes and crime fighters, to war stories and western tales.
Texa grew up in the rough neighborhoods of a sprawling city, where she stood out even as a child. She was born with an extraordinary height, and her intellect developed rapidly, surpassing her peers and even some adults. Despite these unique qualities, Texa’s childhood was far from easy.
Her family struggled to make ends meet, and Texa often felt like an outcast in her community. Her towering height and intimidating presence made her a target of ridicule and bullying. Desperate for acceptance and understanding, she tried to fit in and make friends, but her natural charisma was overshadowed by her imposing stature.

Yet, the more power she gained, the further she drifted from the person she once was. She became ruthless, manipulating and discarding people as she saw fit, all in the pursuit of her insatiable ambition.
In the depths of her heart, Texa wrestled with the consequences of her actions. The girl who once longed for acceptance and love had become a cold, calculating mastermind who put power above all else. Her difficult past had shaped her into a force to be reckoned with, but at what cost?
