Moon Girl is a Golden Age comic book character who first appeared in Moon Girl and the Prince #1, published in Fall 1947 by E.C. Comics. The character was created by a team of writers and artists, including Johnny Craig, Gardner Fox, and Sheldon Moldoff.
Moon Girl, also known as Princess Mengu, is the last surviving member of the royal family of the Moon, which has a hidden kingdom on Earth. She possesses enhanced strength, agility, and the ability to communicate telepathically with her pet panther, Zoro. Moon Girl fights crime, helps those in need, and seeks to preserve the peace and prosperity of her hidden kingdom.
Moon Girl and the Prince was a short-lived series, but it showcased the vibrant artwork and storytelling of the Golden Age of comic books. The character of Moon Girl has since been revived in modern comics, including a 2010 series published by ComixTribe, which reimagines her as a contemporary superhero.

In the heart of the southwestern United States, Moongirl, a young Native American woman, lived on a reservation where her people had faced generations of hardship. Orphaned at a young age when her parents perished in a car accident, Moongirl was raised by her loving grandparents. Though they struggled to make ends meet, they instilled in her a deep sense of resilience and determination to improve her life and the lives of those around her.
One fateful night, Moongirl experienced a vivid and mystical dream. Guided by a benevolent spirit, who revealed herself to be Moongirl’s birth mother, she was led to a hidden cave nestled within the mountains surrounding her home. Her mother unveiled to her an ancient family heirloom, a moonstone imbued with a powerful legacy. Passed down through her ancestors, the moonstone was said to grant the possessor astonishing powers of flight, strength, and invincibility.
Awakening with the dream’s imagery etched into her mind, Moongirl resolved to seek out the cave and uncover the moonstone. Braving the rugged terrain, she embarked on a perilous journey to unearth her family’s mystical legacy. Days of relentless searching culminated in the discovery of the cave, just as it had appeared in her dream. And there, resting on an ethereal pedestal, lay the radiant moonstone.
As Moongirl’s fingers brushed against the stone, a surge of energy coursed through her, transforming her very being. In that instant, she found herself endowed with incredible powers of flight, strength, and invincibility. Overwhelmed by the responsibility and potential of her newfound abilities, Moongirl pledged to honor her ancestors and the spirit of her mother by using her powers to protect and serve her people.
Taking on the mantle of a guardian, Moongirl became a symbol of hope and resilience for her community. With the powerful moonstone by her side, she fearlessly fought to safeguard her people from harm, forge a brighter future, and inspire others to overcome adversity with unwavering determination.
