Publication History
Fly-Man first appeared in Spitfire Comics #1, published in August 1941 by Harvey Publications (later known as Harvey Comics). The character was created by writer and artist Sam Glanzman.
Fly-Man, also known as Trooper Tom Townsend, is a police officer who gains the power of flight and other insect-like abilities after being bitten by an experimental fly. With his newfound powers, Tom adopts the superhero identity of Fly-Man and uses his abilities to fight crime and protect the innocent.
Spitfire Comics was an anthology series that featured various adventure, mystery, and superhero stories. Fly-Man was one of the characters that appeared in the series, sharing the pages with other heroes like The Flame and The Green Hornet.
Fly-Man’s publication history is relatively brief, as his adventures were primarily featured in Spitfire Comics, which only had two issues.
Clip Foster, standing tall at 6’9, was a legend in the Mixed Martial Arts community, renowned for his incredible strength, lightning-fast reflexes, and exceptional agility. The experiment aimed to augment human abilities by combining them with those of insects. After the process, Clip discovered that he had been shrunk to the size of a fly.
At first, Clip marveled at his new form and the extraordinary powers it granted him. His senses were heightened to levels he’d never experienced before. He could hear whispers from a mile away, smell the most delicate scents, and his vision was sharper than ever. His strength, agility, and reflexes had also been amplified, allowing him to perform jaw-dropping feats and move at incredible speeds.
