Captain Battle first appeared in Silver Streak Comics #10, published in May 1941 by Lev Gleason Publications. The character was created by artist Jack Binder and writer Carl Formes.
Captain Battle, also known as Jonathan Battle, is a World War I veteran who becomes a crime-fighter and anti-war activist. Determined to prevent another world war, he uses his extensive knowledge of science, strategy, and weaponry to battle criminals, spies, and other threats to world peace. Captain Battle is also known for wearing a distinctive red and blue costume, which resembles those worn by the mythological Greek god Hermes.
Silver Streak Comics was an anthology series that featured various superhero, adventure, and crime stories. Captain Battle was one of the many characters that appeared in the series, sharing the pages with other heroes such as the original Daredevil, the Claw, and Cloud Curtis.
Captain Battle later received his own self-titled series, “”Captain Battle Comics,”” which ran for 11 issues from 1941 to 1946.

When the military received intelligence about a rogue superhero known as “”The Shadow,”” they knew that Captain Battle was the perfect candidate for the mission. Once a beloved hero, The Shadow had turned against society, causing chaos and destruction throughout the city. Capturing him would be no easy task.
Captain Battle and his team studied The Shadow’s abilities and past actions, devising a plan to exploit his weaknesses and anticipate his moves. They prepared for an intense confrontation, knowing that The Shadow’s incredible powers would be a formidable challenge.
On the day of the mission, they tracked The Shadow to an abandoned warehouse on the city’s outskirts. As they approached, The Shadow unleashed a barrage of attacks, using his powers to launch objects and create powerful energy blasts. Battle and his team dodged and countered the onslaught, gradually wearing their adversary down.
During the grueling battle, Captain Battle discovered a previously dormant power: the ability to negate the powers of others. As The Shadow weakened, Battle seized the opportunity to neutralize his opponent’s abilities, rendering him harmless. With The Shadow no longer a threat, the team captured him and brought him to justice.
Despite his remarkable powers and successes, Captain Jonathan Battle remained a humble man. He never sought fame or recognition for his actions, always prioritizing the mission and the well-being of his team. His legacy as a true hero would inspire generations to come.
